Our first appointment was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on the 25th...which means we had to leave here around 7:15 a.m., which meant we needed to be up no later than 6:15 a.m...whew...that was EARLY after the craziness that we'd been through with getting the kids back from my parent's. The other challenge was that it was a Wednesday, which is the only day Chad has to be in the office and working to prepare for Youth Groups, etc. in the evenings.
We made it to the appointment in time. Chad dropped me at the front doors and I got into a wheelchair and the assistant guy gave me a ride upstairs. Chad brought the kids up and they waited in the waiting area while I had my appointment. My OB, Dr. DL, hadn't been 'on' while I was in the hospital, so this was the first I was seeing him.
Because he's such a level-headed, no fuss type OB I had sort of expected him to tell me to forget bedrest and go about my life...when he didn't...well, it shocked me and made me take it all a little more seriously. I hadn't dialated or effaced any more, but he assured me we'd keep checking and that indeed, he did want to see me every week. Again, this was a surprise...he is the sort of Dr. that had let me come in every 7-8 weeks with my last child.
I brought up the concept of the negative Ffn with him...and asked why he felt all this was necessary with a negative result on that...he explained that the test has only been around for 3 years or so...and he's been an OB for 31 years...he just feels that the symptoms I have are stronger than a FfN test...if the test had been around for longer he would put more stock in it, but until it has proven itself, he'd rather be safe than sorry. I appreciate that about him and agreed to try to follow his instructions to avoid stress and gravity as much as possible.
We were home in time for lunch and naps. Erin brought us supper in the evening, which was such a treat. Lydia still wasn't feeling well. We all went to bed rather early.
